Almost Finished
Since we moved in 8 yrs ago our whole house was a project. A project that I looked forward to everyday and most weekends. In those years I suffered several body parts breaking down on the many years of abuse I dealt to it. This put me for the most part out of the repair business. yes I was able to help on most projects but I need help for all of them. I taught my wife, family and friends the little I knew to help them finish or work on all of the projects that were already started. No project had a more diverse set of helpers and ideas than the Cabana. i am not sure if that is the correct name but it was one i picked up from my youth visiting my Canadian cousins farm. Simple enough it was just a different way to say changing room. When we moved here to Vegas we had to have a pool and with a pool you got to change your clothes. We had been changing in the house or even the garage that led to the pool. Off in the corner of the backyard was a yellow, flat roof shed that was filled with mold and fungus growing on the sagging ceiling. Step one was to tear every piece of this down and toss it. Kim did that. Then Brian removed the electrical and began building a roof. Brian being the man that doesn't like to follow rules did this part his own way. He hand sanded and shaped ( viewable above umbrella ) a very unique shaped and designed piece of art. He did truly a remarkable job that only needed a small fix in ceiling slants spacing. Brian also did the wall and interior painting. It was Dave, who has built and repaired house before, that adjusted the spacing and then covered the roof. Barry has been the last one so far to work on this. he brought the front part of the roof out to created more shade from the extreme Vegas sun. Barry also framed the front and hung the doors making this changing room functional. I had bought the doors a couple years ago and one was almost destroyed by the weather just sitting out. Barry rebuilt and them, tested every other part for durability. he also created the divide so it is two separate rooms. Having a son and daughter both teenagers these rooms were a must. I am blessed to have family and friends that help me. This project may be functional but it is not finished. I already have the volunteers to do more painting and i think I may try my hand at installing electrical. I will update as things progress. Things progress very slowly it may be awhile...
